Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It is famous for its whitewashed houses that cling to the multicolored cliffs which stretch up from the the underwatwer volcanic crater. Santorini’s Caldera is a 300-metre high basin that was created after a gigantic volcanic eruption in 1613 BC. That eruption sank the center of Santorini into the bottom of the Aegean Sea and the outcome was the creation of Santorini as we see it today. The caldera is 16 km covering the holiday resorts of Oia, Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli.
Fira is the capital of Santorini and Oia is the other main tourist hub. When people think about Santorini, it's for the spectacular panoramas, distinct landscapes, romantic sunsets and the volcanic-sand beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.
