By plane

If you are flying, the cloest airports to Roussillon are Avignon or Marseille. Avignon is the closest but does not have that many daily international flights. From the UK, carriers such as Flybe have direct flights from several regional airports - please see www.avignon.aeroport.fr for a list of all carriers that service the airport.

The main international airport, which is serviced by many European carriers is Marseille which is just 85kms from Roussillon. From the airport, the best option is to hire a car as you will need the flexibility and convenience it provides when touring the surrounding villages close to Roussillon.

By train

Roussillon does not have its own train station so the best option is to head to Avignon which links to all major cities thanks to the TVG rail network...

• 3 hours from Roissy Charles de Gaulle
• 1 hour from Lyon, and
• 30 minutes from Marseille

If travelling from London, you can take the take the direct London-Avignon-Marseille service or the Eurostar to either Lille or Paris and then change trains to Avignon. From Avignon, its 40kms to Gordes and the easiest way to get there is to hire a car and drive. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Avignon to Roussillon which takes around 1 hour.
