Paradou villa holidays, Provence Holiday rentals - villas & holiday homes to rent in Paradou
Paradou like its name suggests is a little 'paradise', located just over 10 km north-east of the famous Roman town of Arles. It's a small village with a population of only 2,000 inhabitants although it is not far from some larger neighbours such as Mausanne-les-Alpilles (2km) taking its name from the Alpilles mountain range which overlooks these pretty villages. Apart from its simple beauty, Paradou is known for its ancient windmills, once used by weavers along the river Arcoule.
The village is very peaceful with lovely streets that are well maintained with loads of nice restaurants, cafés and boutiques. Every Tuesday, there is a market with local produce in abundance including local wines and of course the superb olive oil that this little area is renowned for.
