The Palm Jumeirah is the worlds largest artificial island which can be seen from space and is actually an archipelago of tiny islands shaped into a palm tree. It is one of the three Palm Islands - the other ones are Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira and all extend into the Persian Gulf.
At one end of Palm Jumeirah is the exuberent Atlantis Hotel with its Aquaventure Waterpark and The Lost Chambers Aquarium - superb fun for all the family. You can get to the theme parks via the monorail that departs from Dubai Marina or via the 6 lane highway that connects to the mainland.
