Narbonne holidays, Languedoc-Rousillon Holiday rentals - villa & holiday homes to rent in Narbonne

Narbonne is another of Languedoc-Rousillon's gems and is famed for its fishing villages, lagoons and sandy beaches. The town of Narbonne was an important Roman seaport and lies on the canal de la Robine, which is an artery of the more famous Canal du Midi. Narbonne town now lies 13km inland after centuries of silting of the Aude River.

Sitting between Montpellier and Perpignan, Narbonne is split in two by the Canal de la Robine with the Cité to the North and the Bourg to the south. The main beach is called Narbonne Plage and is just 13kms from the town centre and strectches 4km from Gruissan Plage to St.Pierre-sur-Mer. One of the main attractions of this area is the tranquility and the ability to move around with relative ease - the exact opposite of the crowded beaches and traffic jams you often find around the towns and beaches of Narbonne's more celebrated neighbours around the coast on the Cote d'Azur.
