Lavena Ponte Tresa is a charming lake side town in northern Italy sitting on Lake Lugano, not far from the Swiss boarder and around 80km from the capital of Milan and has been attracting tourists for generations. A fantastic destination for anytime of year but especially during the summer months.
Lavena Ponte Tresa retains its culture and history as can be seen in the Old Quarter with its magnificent Church of S.Bernardino dating back to the 15th century. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with boutiques, cafes and restaurants and is a magnet for tourists day and night.
The promenade which runs along the the lake front is a perfect place to take a stroll and take in the breathtaking views of the spectacular scenery. Every Saturday there is a popular street market selling everything from local produce, cheeses, wines to household items and clothes.
