Getting away from the coast, just inland the forested hills of the Maures provide the perfect escape for some gentle hikes or mountain biking.
La Garde-Freinet itself is a tranquil, pretty authentic Provencal village set back about 10km from the beaches with plenty of cafes, fantastic restaurants and bars plus some nice little shops. There are also various bi-weekly markets selling local produce.
