Ingenio is located in the eastern part of the island of Gran Canaria, 25 km from the capital city of Las Palmas. Igenio is a quite tradition town situated between the mountains and the Atlantic ocean, surrounded by lush nature. It has two small beaches, the main beach a small sandy beach, El Burrero is very popular on windy days for windsurfing and sailing. Due to the islands excellent climatic conditions, the beaches are used all year round.

Igenio is famous on the island for is handcrafts mainly lace and stone work. In town there is a museum dedicated to its rich history with workshops also available. Ingenio has many wonderful, interesting places to see and explore including its charming picturesque old town, with the beautiful square of La Candelaria. Here you will also find its church of the same name. Just outside of town you will find the Guayadeque ravine, made up of natural and man-made cave houses, here you can also sample authentic canarian food.
