Cascais takes some beating if you are looking for a family holiday as the beaches are fantastic and there are several ones close to the town to choose from. The local beach is in a sheltered bay with gentle waves and shallow waters. A little further away in Guincho, which is part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, the beaches, while stunning, are wild in terms of they offer excellent conditions for surfing and windsurfing.
