Zante holiday villas Holiday rentals - villas & holiday homes to rent in Zante
Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea sitting 15kms south of Kefalonia. It is one of the most popular summer destinations in Greece and is known for its stunning landscapes, white silky sand beachs, warm turquoise waters and wild nightlife. The capital city of Zakynthos is the heart beat of the island where the nightlife along the harbour and Solomos Square runs from dusk til dawn.
However, Zante has far more to offer than its ledgendary nightlife with plenty of family resorts. It is not an island where you can see the remains of ancient Greek civilisations, you will need to head to places such as Crete and Santorini for that. What you get get though is guaranteed sunshine, some of the best beaches in Europe and geat fun.

Visiting nearby islands
Zante has over 100 satellite islands with most of them being wildlife sanctuaries. Some of the islands are definitely worth a visit as part of your Zante holiday. A couple of suggestions...
Gerakas Beach and Kalonisi Island
Gerakas Beach is located on the Vassilikos Peninsula in the south eastern part of Zante. The beach is simply stunning and never gets too crowded as you need to drive to it. It is surrounded by hills and looks on to the magical Kalonisi Island which is also known as Peluso. You won't find any bars or restaurants on the island but you will find secluded beaches where you can swim with the caretta sea turtles.
Turtle Island
Marathonissi Island also known as Turtle Island sits just off the south coast of Zante and is a very popular tourist spot. The beaches are breathtaking with white talcum powder sand and crystal clear waters but the big draw are the Loggerhead Sea Turtle. The warm waters and reefs around the island provide the ideal environment for these wonderful creatures. You can go snorkeling or scuba diving to see these incredible creatures. You can book boat trips to Turtle Island from either Laganas or Kalamaki.
If you’re on holiday during mating season (May to October), there is a good chance you will see the turtles laying their eggs on you Laganas Beach.
Our view on holidays in Zante
Zante has always been a very popular tourist destination and these days, even more accessible with low cost airfares and value for money holiday rentals accommodation. It is an island of stark contrast from the tourist hub beach resorts with breathtaking scenery and luxurious hotels, clubs and designer boutiques, to the unspoilt inner mountain villages where time seems to have stood still.
In a nutshell, Zante is a top family holiday destination, full of gastranonomic tradition, rich in culture, history and incredibly friendly.
