Palma de Mallorca is the capital city and the gateway to the islands' treasures of mountains, fabulous beaches, turquoise warm sea and rugged north eastern coastline. The city has some interesting heritage and wandewring around the Arab and Jewish quarters reveals the rich history that has helped shaped Palma in to the cosmopolitan city it is today.
There are rustic tapas bars in the narrow streets of the old town to be explored or the trendy bars and clubs for late night entertainment. Starting at the promenade, a typical evening could be a pre-dinner stroll under the lime trees along the Passeig d’es Born boulevard heading towards the La Seu cathedral. Then, wander in to the Sa Llotja district with its narrow streets - the area is packed with trendy bars and fantastic restaurants.
For shopping, Palma takes some beating with lovely boutiques in the streets between Plaça Mayor, Plaça Mercat and Plaça Cort. For markets, the Santa Catalina market on Plaça Navegació is the place to head to.
